The Mitre 10 MEGA Tough Kid® is a fun and challenging obstacle course designed for primary (Yr 3-6) school children. The aim of the day is participation and fun in a “challenge by choice” philosophy that promotes confidence-building and personal achievement. The course includes lots of running with obstacles the kids need to navigate such as cargo nets, cable reels, climbing wall, bank climb & slide as well as lots of other challenging and fun tasks.

Hastings and Flaxmere – 9.30am to 12.00pm

Napier, Central Hawke's Bay, Wairoa - 11.30am to 2pm

Prizes

It is not a timed race and there are no placings due to the large number of entrants.

Race Clothing

It is recommended that kids wear t-shirt and shorts, or clothes suitable for physical activity. As there is water and mud on the course it is recommended that long pants are not worn. Shoes are optional, and bare feet will be at the risk of the individual. Participants will need to bring a spare change of warm clothing, as they will get wet and cold during their race.

Food and Drink

Rapid Relief Team will be providing a sausage sizzle and water. Other food and drink purchases can be made at from Stag 13 Café. There will be Eftpos available however we recommend bringing cash. It is a good idea for each child to bring a water bottle with them. Water will be available around the venue for people to fill their water bottles up. There will not be a set lunch break as there will be plenty of time for children between the race/s they are involved in.

Sun Smart

Please ensure children have appropriate sun hats and are protected with sunblock. There will be shade available when kids are seated in the grandstand; however, when they are competing there will be limited shade.

First Aid

Please bring a first aid kit for minor injuries for your students. A registered nurse will be on site during the event, to tend to any injuries or accidents sustained. If at any stage participants are being assessed by the nurse in the 1st Aid room, an announcement will go over the stadium to ask for the Teacher in Charge to report to the unit. Please be aware of this on the day.

Entry Fee

The cost to enter the Mitre 10 Mega Tough Kid will be $3 per participant. Transport costs are the responsibility of the school. Please note there is a 5% service fee and $1 transaction fee for online registrations.
