Sports
Football
The football fields ‘accommodate' three sports - football in winter, touch in summer and providing the additional fields at the Park frees up Akina Park in Hastings for dedicated softball use.
Netball
Netball is the largest secondary school participation sport with 3000 winter members.
Tennis
Tennis participation has been growing strongly with 1500 members affiliated to Tennis Hawke's Bay - an increase of 40 percent since 2003.
Cycling
Hawke's Bay is a popular destination for cycling and the Ramblers Cycling Club is the second largest in New Zealand. The region is popular because it has an excellent variety of terrain and low traffic volumes.
GymSports
The GymSport facility is the main revenue earner for the Park and key to it's long term viability. Expereicne in other centres suggests it will attract over 20,000 users each year.
Athletics
Hawke's Bay has always been at the forefront of athletic facilities and the new venue continues that theme. The track is both a community facility and, like cycling, one that will attract considerable outside interest and economic benefit for the region.
