Testimonials

The Sports Park concept is driven by the need, both regionally and nationally, for the facilities it provides. The following testimonials reflect this need:

SPARC

"We have no doubt that a multi sport facility of this scale and capacity will deliver significant benefits for people in the Hawke's Bay Region, both now and for future generation."

Halberg Trust

"A coordinated and rationalised approach to sport and sports facilities has long been needed across New Zealand and this initiative is one of the most exciting and adventurous to have been embarked upon by a territorial authority."

Athletics New Zealand

"Potentially it could be the single best athletics facility in New Zealand... Additionally it provides a real opportunity for Athletics New Zealand to establish not only key national level athletic meetings in the region, but it also provides a sound base for core coaching, officiating and athlete development bases."

Hastings Athletics

"The Hastings Athletics Club fully endorses the comments of Athletics New Zealand. The club has hosted two of the largest athletics meetings in New Zealand - the NZ Secondary School Champs  and the primary school equivalent – the Colgate Games. Both these events attract 3000 athletes and spectators. We are also working to have IAAF meetings, one of only three venues capable of doing so."

GymSports NZ

"We are really excited by the proposed Gymsports Centre in Hawke's Bay because it will facilitate participation opportunities across all five GymSport codes. That is not available at present and there are many missed opportunities due to a lack of available and adequate facilities."

NZ Football

"Football in New Zealand is undergoing a renaissance... We congratulate you on this fantastic initiative... Initiatives such as these are critically important as not only New Zealand Football, but all national sporting organisations, strive to provide the appropriate environment for the optimal development of their game, and their players."

Central Football

"The facilities will be unique in New Zealand, not only giving us a number of fully lit pitches in one area and allowing more opportunities to develop and grow the game outside of weekend soccer but also an artificial turf which will be the second one in New Zealand. This could have huge benefits for training New Zealand Squads"

Netball New Zealand

"We believe the Regional Sports Park will create a wonderful environment and allow increased opportunities that will benefit not only netball but also the entire Hawke's Bay community."

Eastern Netball

"Eastern Netball sees the proposed sports park as a positive step for Hastings Netball and the wider netball community"

Touch HB

"People don't appreciate the popularity of Touch. If we get this venue we'll be able to host tournaments of 3000 people"

Hawke's Bay DHB

"The Hawke's Bay District Health Board wants Hawke's Bay to have the healthiest families in New Zealand so we are keen supporters of anything that encourages families to spend time together and lead more active lives. The HB Regional Sports Park is a fantastic opportunity. Those leading its development are to be congratulated for their vision and drive."

Eastern Institute of Technology

"This is an incredibly strategic project for Hawke's Bay and creates one of the more strategic groupings of sport and recreation facilities in New Zealand which opens up many opportunities, both here in the region, but also nationally."

Police

"If you can keep kids busy, you'll keep them out of trouble, so we're strongly behind the Park."

Secondary Schools Principals' Assn

"All secondary schools within Hawke's Bay want to see the Sports Park developed. The new facility will be of enormous benefit to the people of Hawke's Bay and will give Hawke's Bay the opportunity to host major regional and national sporting events"

Wairoa District Council

"The world class facilities will allow for national and international events to be hosted in our region... As a Council we are well aware of the strong correlation between participation in sport and health and wellbing"

Central Hawke's Bay District Council

"We are fully supportive of the multi-facility project and believe it will be a wonderful project which will improve the social, cultural and economic wellbeing of the Hawke's Bay region."

Hawke's Bay Regional Council

"... I commend you on what is a bold initiative. The essence of what is being proposed would enhance the sports infrastructure of Hawke's Bay."

City of Napier

"The project will add to the quality sports fields resource in Hawke's Bay and will bring benefits, both local and national"

Sport Hawke's Bay

"Our three primary goals are to increase participation in Sport and Active Recreation; to build the capability and capacity of our sector, and to ensure that the sports sector is a valued contributor to regional and economic development. We have no doubt that the Regional Sports Park will be a significant contributor to these goals"
